A woman was killed and a man was injured when a Bartow County man pulled up to his family’s home Sunday night and started shooting, authorities said.
David Aaron Turner is accused of firing multiple rounds outside and inside his cousin’s home on Crump Road. His cousin was hit but was able to take cover, while his aunt hid in a bedroom and was unharmed, according to an incident report obtained Monday by AJC.com.

Clara Ashworth was dead when Bartow County sheriff’s deputies arrived about 6:10 p.m. Family members at the scene told Channel 2 Action News she was a former 911 dispatcher and the girlfriend of the wounded man, identified by authorities as Charles Bagley.

According to the report, the first deputy to arrive at the home heard a gunshot. He encountered Turner’s aunt, Donna Mills, in the driveway, who told him there were people inside who were shot and needed help.
The deputy noted a “large pile of shell casings” in the driveway along with an empty magazine rifle.
“The exterior of the residence was littered with bullet holes,” he said in the report.
Once deputies made their way inside, Ashworth was found lying in a corner with multiple gunshot wounds.
Bagley was found in the bathroom with a bloody towel wrapped around his stomach. He told deputies Turner started firing a rifle when he pulled into the driveway, according to the report.
Mills said she heard the shots while she was in her bedroom with the door closed. When she yelled for Turner to stop shooting, he told her to “shut the (expletive) up,” and continued firing, she told investigators.
Bagley was taken to a hospital, and his condition was not provided Monday.
Turner was later stopped and taken into custody after his vehicle was spotted on U.S. 41, according to the report. He was being held Monday on preliminary charges of aggravated assault.
Additional charges are expected to be filed later Monday, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office said.
