An east Cobb County man was indicted on animal cruelty charges exactly 11 months after he allegedly disfigured a dog by pouring hot liquid on it from an electric kettle, court records show.

Justin Michael Crandall, 20, was arrested last summer after allegedly scalding the dog at an East Lake Drive home.
According to his warrant, Crandall maliciously caused pain, suffering and disfigurement to the animal, a brown and white mixed breed named Anastasia.

The warrant says the liquid from the kettle was hot enough to cause severe burns to the dog’s back and side, resulting in the loss of fur and skin.

Crandall, who is out of jail on a $7,500 bond, faces two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, records show.
