You’d think Bo Andrews wouldn’t want to see Oklahoma State’s Zach Olsen again anytime soon.

Yet after losing to Olsen in match play for the second time in three months Thursday, an upbeat Andrews said, “I’d love to be tied and going to extra holes, still playing him. I love to play against great players.”

Olsen took out recent Georgia Tech grad Andrews 1 up in May in the NCAAs. Thursday, in the round of 32 U.S. Amateur matches, Olsen won again, this time more handily, 4-and-3.

Olsen sprinted out a 4 up lead after five holes, and never much looked back. “Zach played really well,” said Andrews, the lone player in this field who is also an Atlanta Athletic Club member. “He made a bunch of putts and I didn’t. And I didn’t chip it close enough when I needed to. Doesn’t matter how many fairways you hit, if you’re not chipping it close and putting it in, you’re probably going to lose.”

Now that he’s done with school and done with the U.S. Am on his home course, what’s next? Good question. “Just kind of regroup, take a little time and figure it out,” he said.

Whatever, good memories will remain. “It was unbelievable, two years in a row playing match play in the U.S. Am. And to have the U.S. Am here was perfect. A great experience overall,” Andrews said.
