Damage from recent storms has closed the southernmost section of the Big Creek Greenway trail in Forsyth County, officials said.

The Greenway is closed between mile markers 1.5 and 3.6, from the McFarland Parkway Trailhead, at 1622 McFarland just north of the Forsyth-Fulton county line, to the Union Hill Road Trailhead at 5259 Union Hill.

The trail may be closed for one week or longer, officials said. It remains open from the north side of Union Hill to Kelly Mill Road. Updates will be provided at the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation website: www.forsythco.com/parks

The Big Creek Greenway in Forsyth County is a 12-foot-wide, multi-use, concrete and boardwalk path through the woods along Big Creek. The first four phases of the trail, totaling about 9.6 miles, have been completed and extend from McFarland to Kelly Mill.
