WINNER: Who has the best wings in Atlanta? | Best of Atlanta

More than 2,500 readers voted in our poll, with two write-in nominees added midweek.

Atlanta loves its wings, so it's no surprise more than 2,500 people voted in this poll. The winner received a third of the votes (33.1%). In third place, with 10.4% of the votes, was Three Dollar Cafe in North Fulton. In second place, with 21.4% of the votes, was J.R. Crickets, which has multiple locations in Atlanta. The winner was a write-in candidate that was added midweek: Highlands Grill in Cobb County takes the prize for 2019.

Atlantans love their wings and wanted us to know it.

More than 2,500 people voted to determine who has the best wings in metro Atlanta. We gave readers 11 choices, but that wasn't enough. Two write-in nominees were added to the poll midweek.

One of those nominees was the overwhelming favorite, garnering a third of the votes.

But first, meet the third place finisher: Three Dollar Café in North Fulton is always a strong finisher in this poll, even winning it last year.

The second place finisher was featured on an episode of Donald Glover's hit show "Atlanta," with a scene featuring lemon pepper wet wings. So many people came in to J.R. Crickets asking for the flavor — which didn't exist — that it was added to the menu.

But they were no match for the 2019 winner.

"Highlands Grill Kennesaw has the best wings ever!!! They are cooked just right and they have some FAT wings!!!" Christian Cipollina wrote in an email nominating the Kennesaw bar and grill.

This is the second week in a row a write-in nominee has been crowned the winner. This week readers are voting on the best cookies in Atlanta, so check to see if your favorite is on the list. If not, email nancy.clanton@ajc.com to nominate it.
