Move over, Cinnabon -- there's a new ooey, gooey player in town.

Gourmet cinnamon bun concept Cinnaholic will open its first east coast location in Atlanta this spring, in Edgewood Retail District off of Moreland Avenue in Atlanta. There are plans for at least nine more Atlanta-area Cinnaholic locations to open in the next two years, including one in Athens.

The first Cinnaholic location was opened in 2010 in California by couple Shannon and Florian Radke, who went on to present their business plan on "Shark Tank" in 2014 . 20 more Cinnaholic locations are also planned across the country in addition to the Georgia stores.

Spencer Reid, the vice president of franchise development for Atlanta Franchise Group, which handles Cinnaholics franchises, said Cinnaholic sets itself apart from the Cinnabons of the world by catering to those "looking for a healthier alternative" when it comes to their cinnamon buns. Cinnaholics' recipe is "100 percent vegan, dairy-free, egg-free, cholesterol-free, made from scratch recipe," he said.

Of course, there are ways to make your bun a little more indulgent, with a long list of frosting flavors including peanut butter, root beer, mango and blackberry, and toppings including gingersnap cookies, pie crumble, strawberry jam and brownie chunks.

In addition to its sweets menu, Cinnaholic will also offer catering and coffee from local roasters.

So what makes Atlanta an ideal east coast entry point for Cinnaholic?

"Atlanta is a very upscale food market and a great foodie town," Reid said. "Cinnaholic fits right into that."
