For Father’s Day, give Dad the gift of good food and drink—whether you make it together or sit back, relax and dine together at a restaurant. The round up below features five stellar places to take Dad—from respective quesadilla and sauce making classes to a ballroom brunch and wine tasting session. Enjoy and Happy Father’s Day.
Sur la Table: Get cooking! Learn to make chicken quesadilla, grilled sliders and s'more's bars at a special Father's Day cooking class at Sur la Table in Alpharetta. Work alongside Dad at a cooking station as a professional chef provides step-by-step directions to making the aforementioned dishes. After, sit down with Dad and enjoy the tasty meal you both made. The cost is $45 per person; classes are available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Additionally, attendees will receive a coupon good for 10% off in-store purchases made that day.
Hop City Craft Beer & Wine: Dad can customize his own brand of home brew beer in this beginner class on Saturday, June 20. The class is $15 per person, and if Dad really likes it, he can return for more since sessions are held every other Saturday. Call 404-350-9998 to check future dates or make a reservation.
D.B.A. Barbecue: Sure, you could buy bottled sauce, but making your own is so much better. Join Matt Coggin, owner and pit master, who will host a special sauce making class for parents and children. After, students will enjoy lunch, desserts and take their flavorful sauces home. Although this class meets from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, you can make an advance reservation and present Dad with printout of the event on Father's Day. To purchase tickets, which are $50 (plus tax and gratuity) for a parent and child, visit www.freshtix.com/events/bbq-sauce-class-for-kids
Portofino: Celebrate dad with a special cabernet wine tasting at 6:30 p.m. Guest will gather in the private wine cellar while Michael Gallant, wine expert, guides the group through 12 carefully selected cabernet wines, presented in four flights along with appetizers. The cost is $40 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Guests may reserve a seat by calling 404-231-1136.
Four Season Hotel Atlanta: The main idea here is to keep Dad out of the kitchen on his day, and this robust brunch buffet does just that—and fills him up with great food. Guests will be taken to the terrace (great for family photos) then seated in the ballroom, which will include iced seafood, made-to-order crêpes and waffles, eggs, griddles, continental breakfast stations and several more. Sponsored by the Big Green Egg, this special brunch will be from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., and is $75 per adult and $25 for children; children under five may dine for free. Also, if Dad loves beer or bottomless bloody Mary's, add an $12 to the cost. Reservations are strongly suggested.
