8ARM restaurant and coffee shop to open tomorrow in Virginia-Highland

The team behind the acclaimed (but now shuttered) Lusca and Octopus Bar are about to open their third venture.

Chefs Angus Brown and Nhan Le's 8ARM will open tomorrow at 710 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE in Atlanta in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood.

The restaurant and coffee shop will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and, eventually, late-night patio service.

Brown, who will serve as executive chef, will serve a dinner menu of eight items, mostly vegetables, that will change often depending on which ingredients are in season. To start, dinner entrees will include lady peas with brodo di pollo and bitter greens; carnival squash with pecorino, garlic and parsley; tagliatelle with English peas, mint and blue crab; and lamb porterhouse with leeks, eggplant and tomato.

Lunch dishes will include Little Gem Salad with buttermilk, grapefruit and herbs; tuna melt on rye with albacore, cheddar and mustard; and grain bowl with soft egg, rancho gordo, cilantro, salsa molcajete and decimal place cheddar.

Breakfast and lunch will be counter-service, with table service during dinner hours. Juices and other to-go items will also be available at the counter.

In addition to the main dining room -- which concrete floors and light wood tables -- the restaurant also has a patio and an outdoor bar. Open only at night, the bar is decorated with hot pink and orange paper traced with a tropical palm leaf pattern.

In addition to 8ARM, Brown and Le are also working on AMA, a 45-seat, walk-in-only restaurant that is scheduled to open early next year inside Paris on Ponce off the Beltline. The spot will feature a seafood-heavy menu with a raw bar and wood-fired grill. The restaurant will be open late and feature a drink list of wines, craft beers and cocktails.

Other partners at 8ARM include Skip Engelbrecht, the owner of Paris on Ponce, and Jeff Jurgena, a partner at SoBa and Octopus Bar. 8ARM’s building and design was handled by Engelbrecht, Jurgena, and Le.

8ARM will be open for breakfast and lunch daily from 7am–3pm and for dinner 6 p.m.-midnight Monday-Saturday. The patio will eventually stay open until 2:30 a.m.
