The Georgia General Assembly at a glance for Thursday, Jan. 25, Day 10 of the 2018 legislative session:
End of the first quarter: On the 10th working day of Georgia's annual 40-day session, only one bill has passed both the House and Senate: a local measure creating the Lumpkin County Airport Authority, Senate Bill 276. The Senate has approved eight bills; the House has passed two. Action has slowed amid disagreement between the two chambers over a proposal to overhaul the state's adoption laws, House Bill 159.
In committee: State School Superintendent Richard Woods, Georgia Department of Education Chief Turnaround Officer Eric Thomas and other education officials will meet with the Joint House and Senate Education Committee.
Tax-free feminine hygiene: Sales taxes would no longer apply to tampons, pads and panty liners under House Bill 731, introduced this week by Rep. Debbie Buckner, D-Junction City.
