Roxane Gay's long-awaited memoir, Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body, will finally be published in June. And in conjunction with its release, the author and cultural critic will embark on a nationwide book tour, EW can announce exclusively.
Hunger will explore Gay's relationship with food, growing up in a family of thin people, the way an act of violence when she was young has affected the way she sees herself, and how she's learned to move through a world that's not built to make people like her feel comfortable. "It was putting the elephant in the room, so to speak," the Bad Feminist author told EW in 2016, explaining why she had to write the book. "People will look, but they won't say anything, or they'll say something behind my back. So I decided to stop that game and say, 'You know what? I'm gonna talk about this. I'm gonna take control of the narrative — and of my body.'"
