A runoff will decide the key DeKalb County Board of Commissioners race between Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton and business development manager Steve Bradshaw.

The runoff will be held July 26, and the winner will then face Republican Willie Willis, a tax examiner, in the November general election for a district covering about 150,000 residents in the Stone Mountain area..

Bradshaw received the most votes in Tuesday's three-way Democratic primary, but he fell short of the majority needed to avoid a runoff. Sutton finished in second place.

Bradshaw said during his campaign that he would be honest and responsive to constituents, and he questioned Sutton’s integrity and spending.

Sutton has said allegations of improprieties are false, arguing that she has fought to bring more resources to her district.
