A reward of $10,000 is being offered for anyone with information in the case of a 19-year-old woman found naked and shot to death in a city park.

Atlanta City Councilwoman Cleta Winslow said during a news conference Monday that she will put $5,000 toward the reward, and the Atlanta Police Foundation will match that amount.

“Somebody knows something out there. Somebody knows something,” Winslow said. “So please come forward.”

A person walking their dogs early May 31 found Bridget Shiel, 19, dead and naked in a grassy area near a basketball court at Oakland City Park about, police said. She had multiple gunshot wounds on her back, buttocks and legs.

It is suspected that Shiel was shot somewhere else and dumped at the park, which is across from an apartment complex where more than 100 children live, Winslow said.

“When shots are being fired and it’s around our children, that is something that is very serious and very close to my heart,” she said.

Witnesses told police Shiel was with two men and sitting in the passenger side of her car against her will.

Police launched a search for the men earlier this month.

“We don’t feel, based on what witnesses said, she was there willingly, and these two males may be perpetrators of this crime,” Det. Vince Velazquez said in a press conference June 10.

One of the men with Shiel looked to be between 20 and 30 years old with a goatee and wearing a white T-shirt, police said, and there was no clear description of the other man.

Police found Shiel's car June 1 behind King's Southern Delight restaurant on Redan Road in DeKalb County.

While there is no evidence of sexual assault, “we have to suspect there was at least some kind of attempt,” Velazquez said.

Memorial services for Shiel were June 11 at the Cathedral of Grace Apostolic Church in Alpharetta.
