Links for bacon lovers

For some, there is never enough bacon. For them, there is Big Fork’s bacon sausage made with pork, and nitrate-free hardwood-smoked uncured bacon. The plump sausages boast a nice snap and come in seven flavors, including the Cracked Black Pepper, Aged Cheddar and Maple & Brown Sugar that we tried. Our favorites: the cheddar and pepper. Suggested retail price: $10 for a 12-ounce, 4-link package. For a store locator or to buy: http://www.bigforkbrands.com

Bake these shell-shaped treats

Move over, Marcel Proust. Barbara Feldman Morse loves those shell-shaped cakelets too. So she’s filled her book, “Madeleines: Elegant French Tea Cakes to Bake & Share” (Quirk Books, $19.95), with enough tips (including a one-bowl method) and recipes to convince more home cooks to bake them. It may be tough to choose just one, with a dark chocolate-espresso version, a gruyere-rosemary pairing and a lemon-poppyseed number vying for attention. At bookstores nationwide.

Mellow dairy eats

Tired of too-tart dairy products? Stonyfield’s Petite Creme (which has a consistency like yogurt) may be what you want. “Will not bite you back” says the label on one. Beyond the tart factor, choosing one depends on your criteria: organic, protein content, culture type, etc. The seven-flavor line is low-fat, with nutris ranging from Plain & Simple (100 calories, 12 grams protein) to Vive la Vanilla (140 calories, 10 grams protein). There’s also Mon Cherry Amour and Ooh lala Peach. Our tasters found peach and plain versions mellow and mild. Suggested retail price: $1.89 for a 5.3 ounce container. Store locator: www.stonyfield.com
