The Atlanta Tack Club will once again pay tribute to the U.S. military at this year's AJC Peachtree Road Race with the third annual Kilometer Kids Charity Chase. Taking place on July 4, the race will pit five branches of the military against each other while fundraising for Kilometer Kids.

The Georgia-based advocacy group United Military Care will join the Atlanta Track Club to organize the race that will have Team Army, Team Marine Corps, Team Coast Guard, Team Navy and Team National Guard competing in two areas: who is the fastest and who can raise the most money. Each branch will be represented by a team of six, three women and three men.

Supporters can choose which branch to support online at the time of donation. Funds raised will go toward Kilometer Kids' effort to increase physical exercise and healthy living for kids ages 7-14.  Donors have until July 31 to give. In 2015, a portion of the funds raised went to support those efforts at Fort Benning.

“Georgia-based military members and their families make many sacrifices for our nation, and Atlanta Track Club is proud to be able to give back by providing the Kilometer Kids program for the children of Fort Benning,” said Rich Kenah, Atlanta Track Club’s executive director. “We are thrilled to have another group of servicemen and women celebrate Independence Day with us at the AJC Peachtree Road Race as they support efforts to get more kids active.”
