Culinary Dropout, from the restaurant group behind eateries including Flower Child and North Italia, is set to open its first Georgia location next month in west Midtown.

Located at 1000 Marietta St. NW in the Brickworks development, the restaurant will be the first of two planned metro Atlanta locations, with a second slated for the Ashford Lane development in Dunwoody in the coming weeks.

Set to debut Nov. 8, the 12,000-square-foot west Midtown Culinary Dropout will be the brand’s first two-story location, complete with both a street-level patio and a rooftop bar.

Serving what it calls “classic meals done right,” Culinary Dropout’s menu offers a variety of snacks, charcuterie, shared plates sandwiches, salads, entrees, pizzas and desserts. Highlights include 36-hour pork ribs, fried chicken drizzled with honey, gochujang Brussels sprouts and pretzel bites with provolone fondue that Shang Skipper, the director of operations for Culinary Dropout, said “is so simple, but is easily one of our top-selling items across the country.”

Weekend brunch options include house-smoked salmon, a breakfast burrito and banana bread French toast as well as brunch cocktails, while the “little monsters” kids menu serves dishes like mac and cheese and crispy shrimp.

Culinary Dropout’s beverage program features wine and several local beers on tap, in addition to cocktails like the Playboi Stache made with vanilla tea-soaked vodka, passoā passion fruit liqueur and orange oil and Campfire Vibes made with 100-proof bonded bourbon, chai jacked apple cider, Spanish vanilla and roasted five spice.

Alongside its food and drinks, Culinary Dropout also offers regular live music, games and televisions around the restaurant showing sporting events. The dining room features artwork throughout, chandeliers and leather booths, with a private event space available for rent.

Skipper said that Atlanta was a logical location for the brand’s expansion.

“Atlanta has always had a great food scene,” he said. “There are really great chefs doing great things here, and we knew we wanted to be in the South.”

Founded by Sam Fox, Arizona-based Fox Restaurant Concepts has several restaurants in its portfolio with locations across the country, including three metro Atlanta locations of Flower Child and two North Italia eateries.

On opening day, Culinary Dropout will donate 30% of proceeds to Agape Youth & Family Center. Opening hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays; 11 a.m.-midnight on Fridays; 10 a.m.-midnight on Saturdays; and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Sundays. The rooftop bar will be open Thursday through Sunday.

Owned by Asana Partners, Brickworks is home to several other food and beverage concepts including Food Terminal and Postino Wine Bar.
