New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees tweeted on Friday morning his team will kneel together before and stand during the playing of the national anthem on Sunday.
During the national anthem before last week’s game at the Carolina Panthers, Brees stood with his hand over his heart.
“As a way to show respect to all, our #Saints team will kneel in solidarity prior to the national anthem (and) stand together during the anthem,” Brees wrote on Twitter.
The Saints play the Miami Dolphins at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday morning at Wembley Stadium.
The announcement comes a week after a record number of NFL players kneeled, sat and locked arms in protest of President Donald Trump's comment taht NFL owners should fire "sons of bitches" who kneel or sit during the playing of the national anthem.
On Monday night, the Arizona Cardinals locked arms at midfield and the Dallas Cowboys locked arms and kneeld before the national anthem to show respect to the flag and those who fight dedicate their lives to serving the United States, while also protesting Trump's comments.
