The announcement that Arthur Blank is bringing an MLS expansion franchise to Atlanta will occur at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Ventanas on Baker Street in downtown Atlanta.

Invitations were received on Friday detailing a “Major Announcement” from Blank and MLS commissioner Don Garber.

The invitations are red with white letters and orange trim, providing a possible clue to the team’s color scheme. The team’s name hasn’t been announced.

The team will be the 22nd franchise in MLS, but won’t begin play until 2017 when the new $1.2 billion stadium is scheduled to open downtown.

Former U.S. national team player Alexi Lalas is also listed on the invitation as a guest.

A fan festival, called Celebration of Soccer, is scheduled to be held from 3-6 p.m. in the parking lot near Marietta and Baker Street, across from Ventanas. The festival is free to the public. The announcement at Ventanas is by invitation only, but there will be a large screen set up at the festival for those who want to watch.
