Atlanta’s McInerney scores first goal for Portland

A day after fellow Atlantan Ricardo Clark did the same for Houston, Jack McInerney opened his 2016 MLS account with a late goal for Portland on Sunday.

McInerney beat the goalie to the ball and poked it into the net, but it wasn't enough for the Timbers to avoid a 2-1 loss to San Jose.

McInerney, 23 years old, is playing for his fourth MLS team since being drafted by Philadelphia in 2010. He has 39 goals in 148 games.
