Johnson: Smith firing ‘disappointing’
Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson and former Falcons coach Mike Smith are friends going back many years, dating back to their days as college assistants in the late 80’s. Their friendship has continued, and the two have often taken golfing trips to Scotland in the offseason.
Not surprisingly, Johnson took up for his friend’s Monday dismissal from the Falcons.
“Well, disappointing to see that happen,” Johnson said, speaking at an Orange Bowls news conference. “They’ve had so many injuries and roster problems, but it’s the nature of the business, and he’ll bounce back, I’m sure.”
