GSU 5 over after first round of NCAA golf

May 24, 2014Georgia State’s men’s golf team carded a 5-over 285 in the first round of the NCAA Championship at Prairie Dunes in Kansas. They are tied for 19th.
Tyler Gruca and Davin White shot matching 1 under 69s. Nathan Mallonee carded a 1 over, J.J. Grey a 6 over and Damon Stephenson a 9 over.
South Carolina leads at 8 under.
The top eight teams will advance to match play after 54 holes to decide the champion. The Panthers are seven strokes away from being in the top eight.
