Matt Griffin, hired last spring to be Georgia Tech’s player personnel director, is no longer on the staff as of this week, according to a person familiar with the decision. A reason was not provided. His separation is not related to former special-teams coordinator David Walkosky’s departure from the coaching staff last Friday.

Griffin was part of a deepening of recruiting staff last year, which also included the hires of Tech legend Joe Hamilton and former Tech standout defensive lineman Saeed Khalif (who was known as Kyle Ambrose during his playing days). Griffin did not return a message left on his voicemail Wednesday morning.
