Georgia State has secured purchases or pledges to purchase 1,471 tickets for their Cure Bowl football game against San Jose State.

The Panthers received an allotment of 5,000 tickets for the game, which will be played Dec. 19 in Orlando.

“Coming off the exciting win on Saturday, we are pleased with the pace that the bowl game tickets are being secured,” sports information director Mike Holmes said. “The Georgia State community is really rallying behind the football team.”

Men’s basketball coach Ron Hunter and former Panther R.J. Hunter have pledged to purchase 50 tickets each. The first 100 students who attend Saturday’s men’s basketball game against Old Dominion at the Sports Arena and who are wearing a Georgia State shirt will be able to sign up to win one of the tickets. The offer is valid for current students, and they must have a vaild student ID to be eligible.

“My three years at Georgia State were incredible and our students and fans were a huge part of it,” said R.J. Hunter, who now plays for the Boston Celtics. “My dad and I have been looking for a way to give back to the students who really supported us and we figured this would be a great way. I loved going to football games during my time at GSU and am extremely excited for this bowl game.”

The Panthers (6-6) earned an invitation to their first bowl game by winning their last four games, including a 34-7 victory over Georgia Southern in Statesboro.
