Over the weekend, Horne shared nude pictures of herself on Twitter after she said a hacker threatened to leak them, but Goldberg said she shouldn’t have taken the images in the first place.

“Once you take that picture it goes into the cloud and it’s available to any hacker who wants them,” Goldberg said on the talk show Tuesday. “And if you don't know that in 2019 that this is an issue, I’m sorry. Your age does not —you don't get to do that.”

She continued, “if you’re famous — I don’t care how old you are —you don't take nude pictures of yourself.”

Thorne responded to Goldberg in a series of tearful Instagram Stories Tuesday night. "Shame on you ... for putting that public opinion just out there like that for every young girl to think that they're disgusting for even taking a photo like that. Shame on you," Thorne said.

She said listening to Goldberg’s comments made her feel “really bad” about herself. She added she would be canceling an upcoming appearance on “The View,” because she said she doesn’t “want to be beaten down by a bunch of older women for my body and my sexuality.”

Twitter had a lot to say about the controversy. By Wednesday morning, “Whoopi” and “Bella Thorne” had become trending topics on the platform. Many folks sided with Goldberg, saying “actions have consequences.”

Others accused Goldberg of victim-shaming. They even compared Goldberg’s reply to those who believe people should beware of their attire to prevent sexual assault.

And a few said Goldberg’s response was misinterpreted. They said she was only trying to highlight the risk of taking nude pictures, especially if you’re a celebrity, and encourage people to careful.
