Peachtree City is considering extending sewer service to portions of Tyrone.
City Manager Jon Rorie told the city council last week that the Water & Sewerage Authority facility on Rockaway Road is operating at only half capacity and could handle up to 350,000 gallons more per day.
Overall water usage is down because of slower population growth and greater use of water-saving devices; however, sewer fees bring in twice as much revenue as water fees.
Rorie said a proposal to expand WASA service to Tyrone will be presented at either the Jan. 21 or Feb. 4 council meeting.
