Three of the seven posts on the Cobb County Board of Education - open for election - are all contested this year.

Post 2: Susan Thayer, a Republican, has announced she will not seek re-election. Instead Democrats Jaha Howard, a pediatric dentist, and Angelia Pressley, employed in marketing/strategic public relations, will have their race decided during the May 22 primary election.

Post 4: Incumbent and Republican David Chastain, a senior item analyst, and Democrat Cynthia Parr, pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church, will contend during the Nov. 6 election.

Post 6: Incumbent and Republican Scott Sweeney, a senior business advisor, and Democrat Charisse Davis, a librarian, also will compete during the Nov. 6 election.
