Marietta police have charged a man with concealing the death of another person whose body was found earlier this month behind a dumpster on Cobb Parkway.

Eric James Jinhong is charged with concealing a death, simple battery and battery, according to an arrest warrant obtained June 23 by Marietta police.

Jinhong, 21, is accused of punching the victim, identified as Jon Plymire, in the head and face with his fists, pushing him to the ground and pouring a can of beer on his head during the early morning hours of Friday, June 14, the police narrative in the warrant alleges. Plymire’s body was found behind a dumpster serving businesses at 316 Cobb Parkway South.

Police also said Jinhong hid Plymire’s body behind the dumpster. Jinhong also covered the victim’s head with a black T-shirt, took and scattered items from his pocket and changed his own appearance before leaving the area, police spell out in the warrant. Plymire suffered injuries to his head, eye and bruising to his neck.

Marietta police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy said the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office has not determined a cause of death for Plymire, and the agency’s investigation remains active and additional charges may be filed.

“Our thoughts and prayers to out to the family of the victim,” he said. “The department is very proud of the extensive work the detectives did to identify the person who is now in custody.”

Jinhong was booked into the Cobb County Jail June 23 and remains held without bond.
