City officials and volunteers in Stonecrest plan to give out 2,000 masks to residents on Friday to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.

The giveaway is doubling as a “birthday” celebration for the young city, which incorporated three years ago.

The masks will be handed out from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2994 Turner Hill Road, the location of the former Sam's Club which Stonecrest plans to turn into a "city center." The city purchased the property last year for about $3 million.

Residents will also receive information about how to participate in the 2020 Census.
