Sentencing postponed for man accused of trying to smother son

A Fulton County judge on Tuesday postponed the sentencing of a man accused of smothering his baby at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital.

A security guard watching a video monitor saw Michael Callaway place his hands over the mouth and nose of his then 3-month-old son in the child's hospital room in March 2007, police said. Last year, Callaway was found incompetent to stand trial but, after receiving treatment at Georgia Regional Hospital, was later deemed competent and recently entered a guilty plea. His sentencing is now set for Sept. 28.
