The Lithonia Steak ‘n Shake, near The Mall at Stonecrest, cleaned its facility and pulled the health score up to an A, one day after earning a failing grade for excessive food debris and grease and having flies throughout the restaurant.

On this follow-up inspection, no points were taken off for uncleanliness, but flies were still observed throughout the kitchen, according to the report.

Steak ‘n Shake, 2905 Stonecrest Circle, Lithonia, scored 90/A. The restaurant failed its routine inspection with a 61/U, and also failed a routine inspection in January.

During the routine inspection, soda nozzles had black substance. The food slicer was dirty with old food debris. The interior of containers used to store toppings also had excessive debris, the inspector said.

The interior of a prep cooler had excessive food debris. Other food equipment had grease build-up and the floors in the walk-in freezer had excessive debris. The inspector said walls throughout the facility were dirty with food splatter.

There were multiple flies throughout the facility. The inspector advised management to have a pest control service the building, and one was notified and came that afternoon.

Also, the fried chicken fingers at a steam-table were at unsafe temperatures, and were discarded.

During the follow-up inspection, Steak ‘n Shake still had debris in the dry storage area and flies in the kitchen.
