The Golden Palace in Cumming brought up its health score to a passing grade after failing an earlier routine inspection with a 39/U.
The restaurant at 2300 Bethelview Road corrected most of the food safety violations, but was still out of compliance on food temperatures and storage, according to the inspection report.
Bean sprouts and cooked chicken in separate cooling units were out of safe temperature range. The chicken was discarded.
Raw chicken and raw beef were being held in the same bowl at the wok station. The Forsyth County health inspector said the meats had to be separated. Raw meats were stored next to ready-to-eat food in the walk-in cooler.
Insects were spotted around the seal of a soy sauce container. It was discarded.
Golden Palace scored 71/C on the follow-up inspection.
On the earlier routine inspection, points were taken off because employees were eating and drinking in the kitchen, and also not washing their hands when appropriate. One employee touched raw eggs and continued doing other tasks without first changing gloves and washing hands. Another employee touched ready-to-eat foods with bare hands.
Among other violations, food was not covered in the walk-in cooler, clean slicers were still dirty with food debris, prepared foods in the cooler were not date-marked for disposal, and the current inspection report was not posted.
Golden Palace had previous inspection scores of 73/C and 71/C.
