Sunrise Cafe in Clarkston was flagged for not having a certified food safety manager on staff and failed a second consecutive routine health inspection.
The restaurant failed to obtain food safety certification by the deadline given, according to the inspection report. This was a repeat violation for Sunrise, which was given another deadline to obtain certification and be in compliance with the DeKalb County Health Department.
Points were also taken off because food was not being protected from contamination.

Among other code violations, an employee was observed handling a cell phone then working with raw beef at the meat sink without first washing hands.
The hand sink in the main kitchen was obstructed by a large trash can, the inspector said. It was relocated to ensure the sink was accessible at all times.
Raw eggs were stored above a container of tomatoes, rice and other ready-to-eat items in a refrigerator.
An employee was washing and rinsing utensils without a sanitize solution at the three-compartment sink.
Sunrise Cafe will be re-inspected.
