Food was left uncovered throughout the kitchen at Mint Indian Bistro & Bar in Forsyth County during a recent routine inspection at the restaurant.
Also, there was no hot water at the employee hand sink and a hose was connected to its faucet, the inspector said.
Points were taken off when an employee was observed mopping the floor, then putting on gloves without washing hands to prep meat in the kitchen.
Mint Indian Bistro & Bar, 2340 Atlanta Highway, Cumming failed the inspection, scoring a 51/U. The restaurant’s previous score was 100/A in July.
The restaurant had other code violations of not protecting foods from contamination, especially in storage. Raw meat was stored beside and above ready to eat foods in a cooler. Some containers of food were stored directly on the floor.
Also, raw chicken was being being thawed at room temperature. Cooked onions on the counter top were at an unsafe temperature. These were discarded.
Employees were prepping food while wearing jewelry, and had open drinks next to food contact surfaces.
The inspector also noted the buffet line needed proper shielding to protect foods from contamination, and recommended that the hand sink be repaired immediately to provide hot water. A plumber was contacted for service.
Mint Indian Bistro & Bar will be re-inspected.
