Fayette County has signed off on an intergovernmental agreement that will fund construction of a roundabout in Peachtree City.
The Board of Commissioners voted 4-0-1 on June 28 to allocate up to $1.5 million from 2004 SPLOST revenue for the acquisition of right-of-way, construction, design and project management, materials and labor to change the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Crosstown Drive from a four-way stop to a roundabout. The improvement had already been designated as among the projects outlined in the 2003 Fayette County Transportation Plan. Under the terms, the city would pay any costs over $1.5 million, and the county would be refunded money if the actual cost is less.
Peachtree City Mayor Vanessa Fleisch signed the agreement in May; construction could begin next year.
