A $10,000 donation from the Police Auxiliary will enable the Peachtree City Police Department to buy more body-worn cameras for its officers.
The City Council formally accepted the donation at its Sept. 21 meeting. A memo from Police Chief Janet Moon noted that the department needs 51 cameras, and will use the donation plus other budgeted funds to buy 23 of them this year. Another 20 cameras are scheduled to be purchased in FY2018.
Coban Technologies, the city’s camera vendor, has replaced eight of the city’s current 15 cameras at no charge, but more need replacing due to age and/or serviceability issues.
