The Lilburn City Council will conduct three public hearings before voting on the proposed 2019 property tax rate. The city is recommending keeping the millage rate the same at 4.43 mils, which will result in slightly higher property taxes due to increased home values.

Property owners are invited to provide comments at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. June 27 or 6 p.m. July 8 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 340 Main St. The City Council is scheduled to adopt the millage rate at its regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. July 8 just after the public hearing.

The city anticipates collecting $2,120,388 in property taxes, which is 6.64 percent more than the previous year. This estimate includes changes in the assessed value of properties, pending appeals, as well as new growth.

Property taxes make up 29 percent of Lilburn’s annual operating budget of $8,291,161 and 19 percent of the overall budget of $12,333,486.

Lilburn approved the 2019-2020 budget June 10. The budget takes effect on July 1. Overview of the budget: www.tinyurl.com/LilburnBudget.
