A 96-room hotel has been proposed for the east side of Northside Drive north of 10th Street in Atlanta near Georgia Tech.
The project would be built on an assemblage of 10 residential and commercial tracts totaling about 0.75 acres between Northside and the parallel Hampton Street. Documents filed with the Atlanta Department of Planning and Community Development show landowners Thurmon and Carolyn Duvall and Anne K. Day seeking rezoning to MRC-2 Mixed Residential Commercial District and a special-use permit to allow a hotel.
The hotel would have five stories and a two-level, 75-space parking deck. Also, 11th Street would be extended from Northside east to Hampton. While the proposed parking is less than the 114 spaces ordinarily required under city code for this type of building, plans call for off-site valet parking as needed. Staff said the 75 spaces proposed should be adequate; however, a variation will be needed.
The name and operator of the hotel was not disclosed.
