Green Market seeks help

The Green Market is a program in partnership between the Piedmont Park Conservancy and the City of Atlanta Parks, Recreation and Bureau of Cultural Affairs and offers fresh, locally grown produce, farm fresh meats, artisan cheeses, snacks, live music, chef demos and kids programs in a weekly open-air farmer’s market.

Volunteers must be at least 13 years unless accompanied by an adult, able to communicate effectively with the public, lift up to 20 lbs., and work outdoors in various weather conditions. (Market is rain or shine).

Volunteer tasks include Green Market set up and break down, chef demonstration assistant, Green Market surveyor, market veggie valet.

Volunteer orientation day

Communities In Schools of Atlanta will host a volunteer orientation for mentors, tutors and other opportunities. If you are unable to attend the on-site orientation, you may complete the online orientation as an option.

Socialize with seniors

The ‘Buckhead Health & Rehabilitation’ facility has changed its name to ‘Signature Healthcare of Buckhead.’ It is seeking volunteers to join this group of nursing home residents for an entertaining evening of playing BINGO and socializing with seniors. Volunteers of all ages are welcome with adult supervision

Mobile food distribution

SWEEAC, a partnership of faith communities assisting families in crisis that reside in 30310, 30311, and 30331 as well as families referred by partnering churches, needs help with its Mobile Food Distribution project. It is an outdoors event located in the back parking lot of the center/church. The project site is wheelchair accessible and easy access to restrooms. We accept court ordered volunteers. Minimum age is 8 with adult supervision.

Personal shoppers wanted

The Center for the Visually Impaired is seeking volunteers to be personal shoppers.

Personal shoppers visit clients at their residences to provide assistance with predetermined personal services. Such services may include grocery shopping, retail stores, doctors’ appointments, banks, post offices etc. Many of our clients are homebound and isolated and benefit from the practicality of the service and the personal contact.

Must have be at least 25, with a driver’s licence. All volunteers must fill out necessary paperwork and attend an orientation and training session.
