Flies, dust and debris reported in kitchen of Gwinnett wing joint

A Gwinnett County wing joint failed its recent health inspection, with officials noting flies, dust and debris inside the kitchen, among other violations.

Wings 101, located at 2066 Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross, received a 63/U on the Tuesday afternoon inspection.

According to the report, flies were spotted in the kitchen and dining areas of the restaurant, and "fly tape, with multiple dead flies on it, was stored in the kitchen by the dry storage shelves." Officials also noted dust, grease and food debris on "the floor [and] walls of the cookline" and on the "cookline ventilation hood."

Other reported violations included improperly cooling rice, lettuce and hush puppies; "raw chicken observed inside the designated vegetable prep sink"; and trash spilled around the garbage can.

"A lot of flies were observed in this area," the inspector wrote.

According to its website, Wings 101 has a total of five locations in metro Atlanta, including a second Gwinnett location on Peachtree Parkway and others in Atlanta, Tucker and Roswell. Multiple calls to the Beaver Ruin Road location went unanswered late Wednesday morning.

A follow-up inspection will be completed within 10 days of Tuesday's evaluation.
