Tim Shearer, former city administrator for the city of Angels Camp, Calif., assumed his new role Monday as Duluth’s first city manager.

Duluth’s City Council unanimously voted Thursday to approve the choice of Shearer.

He will succeed Phil McLemore, who served as the city’s administrator for the past 15 years. Duluth recently decided to change the name of the position from city administrator to city manager.
