With their terms ending next month, Avondale Estates Commissioners Lindsay Forlines and John Quinn attended their final board meeting Monday, both expressing concern that the city’s downtown hadn’t developed further during their terms.
Quinn, who served the past four years, said his proudest accomplishments were helping create the brand new green space and education committees, and helping revamp the city’s Downtown Development Authority. But he added, “I just wish we had that grocery store I could walk to.”
Forlines, who also served one four-year term, shared his sentiments.
“I hoped we would’ve been further along with downtown development,” she said. “But I’d be foolish to say I’m disappointed. We are now laying the foundation and that’s the most important thing.”
Quinn finished third in a five-person election last month, with top vote-getters Brian Fisher and Adela Yelton winning commission seats. Both get sworn in Jan. 4. Meanwhile, Forlines declined to run again.
