A Chinese restaurant in the Stone Mountain area scored at 52 on its most recent health inspection due to an “excessive accumulation of food debris” on its kitchen walls and a number of other violations.
During the Friday inspection at China Restaurant on North Hairston Road, one employee was seen putting their bare hand in a container of ready-to-eat shrimp, according to a DeKalb County Board of Health report.
An employee also handled chemical bottles, rubbed their face and hair and handled clean food equipment without washing their hands, the report stated. And the restaurant was docked for some food being stored improperly.
Most of the violations were corrected during the inspection.
The eatery is located in the Hairston Village shopping center at the corner of Memorial Drive and North Hairston Road. A manager or owner could not be reached for comment on Monday.
During an inspection about a month ago, the restaurant scored a 71. Last November, it got a 95. It will have a chance to improve on the failing score during a follow-up inspection.
