The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to oppose an annexation request by Smyrna city officials.
The 4.19-acre tract is at the corner of Fontaine Road and the East-West Connector.
In a June 28 letter to Smyrna Mayor A. Max Bacon, Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee wrote the objection is based upon the city’s intention to rezone the property to accommodate more than the county’s five dwelling units per acre.
Ashton Atlanta Residential is proposing to construct 32 units on the site which would be nearly eight units per acre.
