You can celebrate the man who gave Gwinnett County its name on Sunday.
Button Gwinnett — who, fun fact, never actually lived in Gwinnett County — will be honored at the annual Button Gwinnett Living History Festival in Buford. Guests can participate in activities the founding father probably enjoyed, including a musket-firing demonstration and Jacob's Ladder.
What's the statue atop the Mall of Georgia? (Hint: His first name is Button.)

Visitors can interact with costumed re-enactors and learn about Gwinnett’s role in America’s founding. Gwinnett, a Savannah plantation owner, led Georgia’s delegation to the Continental Congress and wrote the first draft of Georgia’s state constitution.
The festival costs $8 to attend, and Environmental and Heritage Center members can get in free. The festival will go from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Environmental and Heritage Center on 2020 Clean Water Dr. in Buford. Find full registration information at the festival's website.
