Austell Mayor Joe Jerkins and the City Council will conduct public hearings on a proposed tax increase.

Hearings are planned for 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. July 26 in the Council Chambers, Austell City Hall, 2716 Broad St., Austell. While they are proposing to keep the same millage rate of 3.06 — the same since 2014, an increase in property taxes will be required of 6.66 percent.

The anticipated annual tax increase for a house with a fair market value of $100,000 is about $7.64 and, for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $125,000, around $9.55 more. Information: AustellGa.gov.
