About 150 Air Force reservists based at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta started returning Monday from a five-month deployment overseas, where they participated in military operations in Afghanistan.

The 94th Airlift Wing did not suffer any casualties while moving people and equipment through Afghanistan for U.S. Central Command. Sixty-five of the airmen returned to Dobbins Monday. The rest are returning Tuesday. More are expected to deploy for a similar missions in Afghanistan this fall.

“I’m proud to report that these members who are coming home today and tomorrow really exceeded expectations for what they had trained for and the mission they were tasked with,” said Lt. Col. James Wilson, a spokesman for Dobbins and the 94th. “They went above and beyond. And we got some really favorable feedback from the leadership they were supporting while they were deployed.”
