Heavy rain and flooding have caused dangerous driving conditions and forced about 20 people from their apartments, according to DeKalb County.

The apartment evacuation occurred along Peachtree Industrial Boulevard as water levels rose, said DeKalb spokesman Burke Brennan. The apartment complex’s management handled the displacement of its residents.

Water was also coming close to homes along Burnt Creek Road, which is located near North Druid Hills Road, Brennan said.

The county is warning drivers to avoid traveling through standing water.

“You can’t see the bottom. You might think you can make it, but every video you’ve ever seen of someone floating down the current is someone who thought they could make it,” Brennan said.
