By April Hunt
April 13, 2011Georgia could soon have a committee designed to promote racial harmony and raise awareness of the civil rights movement.
The House voted 158-5 Tuesday to approve Senate Bill 141, which would create the Martin Luther King Jr. Advisory Committee. The nine-member board also would develop, coordinate and advise the state of appropriate ceremonies and activities related to the King holiday.
The bill now goes to Gov. Nathan Deal for review.
