DeKalb County residents and leaders are celebrating the opening of an outdoor basketball court at Gresham Park.

The Atlanta Hawks Foundation funded the construction of the basketball court with a $48,000 donation. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the court Saturday.

“Basketball, and sports in general, is an excellent way to meaningfully enrich the lives of youth. This gift from the Atlanta Hawks Foundation is invaluable,” said DeKalb CEO Lee May.

Gresham Park’s sports programs have been a starting point for many professional and collegiate athletes, including former Atlanta Hawk Dion Glover.

“We are proud to partner with DeKalb County Parks and Recreation to increase access to the game of basketball and add to Gresham Park’s capacity to serve the community,” said David Lee, executive director of the Atlanta Hawks Foundation.
