Gwinnett to hold hearing on school budget

May 14, 2015

Gwinnett County school officials have scheduled a public hearing at 7 p.m. today to get comments from residents about its proposed budget.

The district has proposed a $1.86 billion budget that includes a 2.5 percent cost-of-living increase for nearly all school employees, raises for most teachers and boosting the starting salary for teachers to $41,028.

The proposed budget does not include a property tax rate increase.

The meeting will be at the school district’s headquarters, 437 Old Peachtree Rd. in Suwanee.

School board members are scheduled to vote on the budget at a meeting May 28.
