Eric Stirgus joined The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 2001. He’s been the newsroom’s higher education reporter since 2017, writing about the region’s colleges and universities, a key component of Georgia’s workforce development, arts and research. His prior assignments at the AJC have included writing about several local governments, school districts and politics. Eric previously worked at the St. Petersburg Times, New York Post and interned at the New York Daily News. Eric is active in the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists and the Education Writers Association and enjoys mentoring aspiring journalists.
